This Tuesday (24), in New York, the launch events for Where We Stand (Yale University Press), the English edition of Lugar de Fala, begin. On her Instagram profile, Djamila Ribeiro expressed her satisfaction in presenting the work to the American public.

“I’m thrilled to share my schedule of public events in the United States this semester! I’m in the country as a visiting professor at New York University and to promote my first book published here, Where We Stand, by Yale University Press. Check out the events below, and if you’re nearby, I’d be delighted to see you!”, she highlighted.

Since the beginning of September, the Brazilian philosopher has been teaching as a visiting professor at New York University (NYU).

📅 09/24 – 7 PM – NEW YORK: Public lecture with Ibram X. Kendi at NYU (Cantor Film Center (Theater 102), 36 E 8th St.).

📅 09/26 – 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM – YALE/NEW HAVEN: Book launch (Whitney Humanities Center, New Haven, Connecticut)

📅 09/29 – 4:30 PM – NEW YORK: Brooklyn Book Festival. With Edwidge Danticat and Dionne Brand. Moderated by Saidyia Hartman (St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church, 157 Montague Street, entrance via Clinton Street). Book signing at 5:30 PM, Table C.

📅 10/06 – 8 PM to 9:30 PM – LVIV: Ukraine Book Fair (Online Event). “Let go of the past: what is the anti-colonial struggle.” With Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Lola Shoneyin, and Oksana Zabuzhko. Moderated by Vakhtanh Kebuladze (Online event, open to the public).

📅 10/09 – 6:30 PM to 8 PM – NEW YORK: Book launch at the Brazilian Consulate. Q&A and book signing (225 East 41st).

📅 10/11 – 4 PM – NEW JERSEY: Book launch at Rutgers University (Rutgers Academic Building West, Conference Room 6501 – 15 Seminary Place).

📆 10/16 – 5:30 PM to 7 PM – SPELMAN COLLEGE – Atlanta, Georgia (Closed Event).

📅 10/17 – GEORGIA/ATHENS: Book launch at the University of Georgia. Willson Center Distinguished Lecture, Brooks Hall – Room 145. Atlanta, Georgia.

📅 10/25 – 7 PM – WASHINGTON D.C.: Book signing and launch at Politics and Prose bookstore (Northwest DC, 5015 Connecticut Avenue NW).
