After visiting New York, Atlanta, Washington, and other cities, the U.S. book tour for Where We Stand came to an end last Friday (22) in Boston. On Instagram, Djamila Ribeiro shared her reflections on the final stop.

“Boston, the last city of the tour! It was an honor to deliver a lecture at Harvard, invited by the University through the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. A special thanks to Tiago Genovese for his remarkable coordination, to guest professor Janaina Lobo, and to scholar Carla Rosário for their wisdom in moderating the debates. A very special Thursday at the elegant Tsai Auditorium!” wrote the Brazilian philosopher.

On Friday morning, Djamila also attended the University of Massachusetts (UMass) for the 13th Portuguese Language Conference, organized by the Portuguese Department with the support of the Consulates General of Brazil, Portugal, and Cape Verde in Boston.

“I had the honor of representing Brazil alongside Francisco Fragoso (Cape Verde) and Hugo Gonçalves (Portugal). It was an event crowned with accolades, and the lively lunch with diplomats from the three countries and University professors sealed the occasion. My congratulations to the organizers, José Rodrigues and Simone Lemos, from the Portuguese Language Department. “I was very happy to know that my works are studied at the University of Macau, in China, strengthening this bond through the Portuguese language!” wrote Djamila.

At the end of the day, Djamila was hosted at the Brazilian Consulate in Boston by Ambassador Santiago Mourão.

“A wonderful conversation with plans for the future. My time in Boston crowned the tour, and I am immensely grateful to Itamaraty for their support throughout every stage of this journey in the U.S.,” she celebrated.
