Consulate General of Brazil in New York hosts the launch of ‘Where We Stand’

Last Wednesday, October 9th, Djamila Ribeiro had the opportunity to present ‘Where We Stand’ to Brazilians living in New York. On her Instagram profile, the philosopher expressed her joy in sharing the moment with such a special audience.

“What an emotional night! A full house at the Brazilian Consulate in New York for the presentation of Where We Stand, published by Yale University Press, to the Brazilian community. I want to thank the entire consular team, especially Ambassador Adalnio Senna Ganem, for making this evening so special. I also send a special hug to the Kilomba Collective, a group of Black Brazilian women in New York, and to the PUB research group for helping with the organization and mobilization for the event. It was a success!”, celebrated Djamila.

The tour now heads to New Jersey. Where We Stand will be presented to the Rutgers University community this Friday, the 11th.

“The arrow follows its course, and I am grateful to my father Oxóssi, my mother Oyá, and all the deities who have blessed me with this book. As Dona Ivone Lara once said: ‘They called me, and here I am, what’s up?’ (‘Foram me chamar, eu estou aqui o que que há?’)”, concluded the philosopher.
