“Short anti-racist guide” gets dramatic version in March
Loosely inspired by Djamila Ribeiro’s award-winning book, the play “Pequeno manual antirracista” (“Short anti-racist guide”) opens on March 15 at the Goethe Theater – Institut in Salvador. On her Instagram, the Brazilian philosopher talked about the news:
“With great joy, I make this post: “Pequeno Manual Antirracista” has been adapted for the theater! With text and direction by the talented Aldri Anunciação, produced by Maré Produções Culturais and starring the dear Luana Xavier. A book that won over Brazil, read and studied in schools, universities, community libraries; present at educators’ training, companies, Secret Santa, end-of-year parties. A book that has burst bubbles and surprises me every day with its reach and its contribution to anti-racist education. And now it has a new language, another look and perspective. It will reach other audiences, minds and hearts”.
Djamila also thanked the staff of the play and invited everyone to the premiere: “I’ll be there to check it out and I look forward to seeing you!” she concluded.
