In the presence of presidents, embassy representatives, ministers, businessmen and businesswomen, Djamila Ribeiro was one of the honorees at the Leadership for Americas, held by the Inter-American Dialogue. The awards event took place on Thursday (9) at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington.
“Leadership for the Americas Awards Gala. What a special night to be honored at the Organization of American States. Thanks to Inter American Dialogue for recognizing my work,” wrote the Brazilian philosopher on her Instagram profile.
Djamila received the Leadership in Gender Equality and Racial Inclusion Award for “her public engagement in the defense of rights and educational initiatives”, according to the website of the organization, which is dedicated to strengthening democracy and promoting governance and social equity in Latin America and the Caribbean. Among the members of the Inter-American Dialogue include heads of state from American continent countries, leaders of multilateral agencies and multinational companies.
Next stop: Arequipa, Peru, where Djamila will take part in the Hay Festival this Saturday (11). It will be Djamila’s first visit to this South American country.
